Viipekeele algkursus Tallinna Ülikoolis / Sign language basic course in Tallinn University

Did you know that from the spring semester, the first-year students of Special Education can take the subject of the basic course in Estonian Sign Language, in the creation of which the Student Union has also contributed?

In spring and autumn of 2019, we conducted a survey to find out if our students were interested in learning Estonian Sign Language and what other electives should be available at the university. It was gratifying to see that the majority of the respondents considered it necessary to create an Estonian sign language subject, and we also received ideas for many other subjects. We grabbed the results of the survey in the Student Union and started the process of creating the subject, which culminates this spring semester with the first reading of the subject.

It is a pleasure that the Student Union has been able to help take a step closer to creating a more inclusive society!
