Cap Ceremony

On February 22, 2024, another Cap Ceremony took place at Tallinn University.

The Cap Ceremony is a tradition started by the Student Union, during which 100 first-year students with the best academic results are rewarded with the Tallinn University cap.

The atmosphere at the ceremony was created by our amazing Tallinn University BFM mixed choir, who celebrated our laureates with both rhythmic and soul-touching songs.

Among the speakers, the Rector of Tallinn University, Professor Tõnu Viik, spoke about his university experiences and encouraged students to take part in university life. The leader of the Student Union, Kärt Kaasik-Aaslav, also spoke in front of the bright first-year students, encouraging the students to delve into their major, while also emphasizing the importance of relationship building. Finally, the laureates were also praised by Aleksandr Roms – chairman of the Student Council of the Institute of Educational Sciences .

Why the cap?

The interwoven unbroken line of the ornament embroidered on the top of Tallinn University’s cap symbolizes the cohesion between the members of the university and helps to remember the values of the university. The white color of the cap symbolizes academic spirituality and freedom, the cherry red symbolizes the unity of the university family, and the black symbolizes academic rigor and patriotism.

Congratulations to all the cap recipients!
